HOW HEAT WILL EFFECT OUR NORMAL WALKS
Time of Day
I will start walks as early as possible and aim to conclude walks before the heat of the day sets in.
The sun is at its highest point at approximately midday and this is when the sun’s radiation is at its strongest. However, it tends to get warmer over the following few hours.
High-Risk Breeds
Dogs with a higher susceptibility to heat stroke, such as double-coated or brachycephalic breeds, may have their walks cancelled for their safety.
Shorter Walks
To ensure the safety of all dogs, walks may be shortened throughout the day to allow me to walk the dogs that need walking before the heat of the day, as well as prioritising any dogs that require drop-in visits.
HOW I WILL PROVIDE SAFE WALKS IN THE HEAT
Shade
Walks will be directed in woodlands to provide relief from the sun
Water
All walks will be planned near water sources, ensuring that dogs have plentiful opportunities to cool off and stay hydrated.
Possible Restricted Play/Freetime
For high-energy dogs, there may be periods of reduced free play, with more time spent on lead if necessary
Pick Up's and Drop Off's
While I enjoy chatting with you when you’re home, I’ll limit our conversation time to ensure that the dogs aren’t left in the van for longer than necessary.
